The Marine Corps League, recognized as the only Congressionally Chartered Marine Corps-related Veteran Service Organization, was founded in 1923 by LtGen John Lejeune and officially chartered in 1937. It benefits from a special IRS exemption that enables donations to be tax-deductible for the donor, aligning with its commitment to providing Marine Corps veteran services.
Membership includes Active-Duty, Reserve, Retired, and Veteran Marines, as well as FMF Servicemembers. Those who have transitioned out of military service must possess an Honorable or General Under Honorable Conditions Discharge to join.
The mission of the Marine Corps League is to promote the interests and preserve the traditions of the United States Marine Corps; strengthen the fraternity among Marines and their families; serve Marines and FMF Navy Personnel who have worn or are wearing the Eagle, Globe and Anchor; and foster the ideals of Americanism and patriotic volunteerism. Through local chapters like the Pikes Peak Detachment, the League is dedicated to enhancing Veterans support programs and ensuring a lasting commitment to those who have served.
The Marine Corps League, specifically through the Pikes Peak Detachment, is dedicated to supporting Veterans and their families in local communities throughout the United States. With a range of Veterans support programs, the League strengthens family bonds. Our Accredited Veteran Service Officers advocate for Veterans’ benefits cases to the Department of the VA, while our VAVS Volunteers offer valuable assistance to Veterans at VA Medical Centers.

As part of our commitment to marine corps veteran services, the Pikes Peak Detachment actively participates in various veterans support programs, including the promotion of youth physical fitness and scholarships for college students.
