Pikes Peak Detachment Honor Guard
What is the Honor Guard?
The mission of a Marine Corps League Honor Guard is to provide military honors for funeral ceremonies of honorably discharged Veterans of all branches of the United States Armed Forces. Currently, the DoD only provides a rifle detail for retired military and members that passed on during active duty. Many folks like us believe that the service of Veterans, active duty and reserves, is just as meaningful and worthy of the complete military honors. That is how honor guards, like that of the Marine Corps League, come in. We complement the flag and bugle details provided in these situations. On rare occasions, the MCL has provided the entire ceremony.
The military honors provided at a funeral ceremony is not just for the benefit of the deceased Veteran, it is also for the family and friends of the deceased. It is in addition, a reminder to the community of the importance and dignity of serving our country by service in the U.S. Armed Forces.
The Pikes Peak Detachment will provide a rifle honor guard for the three round volley when requested.

Normally arrangements for military honors is arranged by the funeral home. If you find yourself in a situation in which this did not happen, the links below could be helpful in you making the arrangement for the military honors yourself.

This is not essential but help speed things along when the time does come. This is done while the Veteran is still alive.
